Donald Arthur
Swenson, the son of Arthur and Mabel (Johnson) Swenson, was born June 13, 1936 on the family farm in Rushseba Township of
Chisago County, Minnesota. He grew up there, attended the rural Willow Grove Elementary School, and graduated from Rush
City High School at Rush City, Minnesota.
Following graduation, Don served his country by joining the United States Army. He received his honorable discharge
from the military on February 16, 1961, and then served another two years in the Army Reserve.
As a young man, Don was employed at Reserve Mining
Company at Babbitt, Minnesota, where he worked on their railroad. Later he worked for Joel Carlson in his sodding business.
He had a passion for cars, both old and new, and often owned more than one.
Don died November 14, 2008 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, having reached the age of 72 years.
He is survived by his brother, Darrell Swenson of Rush City; his cousins: Candy (Harland) Twingstrom of Harris, MN and
Karen (Tom) Ploog of Minnetonka, MN, Jerry (Judy) Caroon of Forest Lake, Pat (Hugh) Morrison of Stillwater, Shirley Evenson
of Siren, Wisc., Betty (Frank) Kosik of St. Michael, Carol (Bob) Vanek of Hibbing as well as several other cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Mabel Swenson, and infant sister Nancy Jo Swenson.
A graveside service was held Wednesday November
26, 2008 at the First Lutheran Cemetery in Rush City
