Josie Odegard passed away August 31, 2008 at the age of 92 years at Lakeside Medical Center
in Pine City after fighting a short battle of kidney failure and related problems.
Josie, as she was known by all, was born on the family homestead May 19, 1916 in Erie, MN.
to Ole and Christine Lien. She worked very hard on the family farm while attending school in Erie and Goodrich,
MN.
Josie would visit her
sister Maxine in Pine City and on one of these visits she met Bernard Odegard, whom she eventually married and had a family
of three children.
Besides
working the farm in Pine City, raising a family, Josie started working at Lakeside Hospital in Pine City. Taking
home study courses she became a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked for a time at Midway Hospital in St.Paul, MN. Josie would
later return to work as a nurse at Lakeside Nursing Home in Pine City and also worked at General Fabrication in Pine City
and Plastech Research Inc. in Rush City until her retirement.
With time on her hands, Josie took up painting which she enjoyed and became a very good painter.
Her other hobbies included embroidering, knitting and other craft related hobbies.
Josie is survived by her daughter Janice (Odegard) Korf and husband Henry of Pine City, sons
Dennis Odegard and wife Linda (Montgomery) Odegard of Pine City, Daryll Odegard and Robin Odegard of Granstburg, Wisc., grandchildren
Terry (Korf) Hatfield and husband Mark, Vicky (Korf) Piha and husband Mike, Jody (Korf) Kruse and husband Curt, Tim Odegard,
Jeff Odegard, Mark, Michael and Matthew Odegard, Melissa (Odegard) Sachse, 19 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren,
many nieces and nephews. Also surviving Josie is her sister-in-law Verna Nelson and her former daughter-in-law Kay (Jim) Sherman.
Josie was preceded in death by her parents Ole & Christine Lien, husband J. Bernard Odegard, her
sisters Ovila, Maxine, Clarice, Elvina, her brother Glennie, infant siblings Mabel, Beatrice and Noel and great grandson
ZacharyHatfield.
