Karen Eileen Finger
Karen was born November 20, 1940
to William and Velda (Brant) Geisler just south of Cloverdale. She attended Cloverhill country school until eighth grade when
she stayed home to help on the farm.
On April 20, 1968 she was united in marriage to Duane Finger. Karen and Duane were
married for 38 years. They made their home in Pokegama Township in Pine County where they raised their four children: Tracey,
Danny, Troy and Kristi.
Karen enjoyed working in the garden and giving vegetables to her family and friends. She loved
to can pickles, beans, and tomatoes. Karen stayed busy being a homemaker with animals to feed, chickens to butcher, grandkids
to be watched, and yard work to be done. She enjoyed spending time with her four grandchildren, playing cards and traveling
with them.
Karen died September 11, 2008 at her home in rural Pine City. She is survived by her sons Danny and Troy
of Pine City; daughters Tracey & Scott Colsrud of Sandstone, MN, and Kristi &Tim Johnson of Finlayson, MN; four grandchildren:
Michael, Cacey, Brody and Kalley; brothers; Leroy & Shelia Geisler of Fridley, MN, Melvin & Loretta Geisler and Ken
& Sue Geisler all of Pine City; sisters; Pat & Doug Miska of Wyoming, MN and Betty Ann & Dan Defries of California;
many aunts & uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane, and her parents, William and
Velda Geisler.
Deacon Gene Biever officiated at funeral services; 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at the Swanson
Funeral Chapel in Pine City. Music was provided by Kathy Hagberg. Honorary casket bearers included Karen’s grandchildren
Michael Scott, Cacey Scott, Brody Fischer and Kalley Jo Fischer. Casket bearers were Jeff Jahz, Tim Johnson, Steve Saumer,
Don Teich, Dick Kuzel, and Gary Valvoda. Interment was at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Pine City. Funeral arrangements
