Geraldine "Geri" Ann Nelson

Geraldine "Geri" Nelson, formerly of Pine City, South Minneapolis and Beroun, passed away Friday, August 12th 2016 at the Eckstein Center Hospice of the Valley in Scottsdale, Arizona at the age of 88. Geri was born on August 30th 1927 to Elmer and Anna Grover in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. Geri grew up in a big family of nine children and being the oldest girl she loved to "mother" the younger kids. She was always a big help to her mom around the farm. She graduated from Pine City High School. She met and married Gene Nelson in September of 1948. Together they owned CJ Nelson Transfer, a trucking and rental business in South Minneapolis where Geri did all the bookkeeping for the business and made sure everything ran smoothly. Upon selling their business and retiring, they moved to Beroun, Minnesota. Geri enjoyed her grandchildren, being in the church choir and singing karaoke. The last two years she spent in Scottsdale, Arizona so she could be near her two children, Ronnie and Linda, who cared for her. Geri is survived by her son Ronnie (Jill) Nelson; daughter Linda (Brice) Fawley; grandchildren Karli and her husband Ed, Krisha, Colin, Alexander, Arianna, Joshua and his wife Jodi, Kyle and his wife Jessica; great-grandchildren Piper, Tatum, Willow, Kylie, Allyx, Elijah and Jackson; brothers Bill, Jim and Denny Grover; sisters Nancy Wolter and Laura (Laurence) Chalupsky; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents John Grover in 1974 and Anna in 1989; husband Gene Nelson in 2001; brothers Johnny, Ray and Dick Grover. Memorial services for Geri will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City. A time of visitation is planned for one hour prior to the service at the chapel. A private family interment will take place on Monday, August 22, 2016 at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
