Guy Arthur Hobart

Mr. Guy Arthur Hobart of Rush City, died Thursday, December 3, 2009 at his home in Rush City, MN. at the age of 73 years. He was born on October 1, 1936 in St. Paul, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother Mary E. (Steven) Boyan of Rush City, MN and father George T. Hobart, Sunnyvale, CA. and his aunt and uncle Paula & Roy Gilquist of Rush City. Guy is survived by his cousin Mark Gilquist, St. Paul, MN; his three children, daughter Leslie Jean Hobart of Berwyn, IL and sons Guy Arthur Hobart Jr. of Cedar Rapids, IA and Dean Patrick Hobart of IL. Guy was a self-employed computer programmer who was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy Sea Bees as an airplane pilot. After serving in the Navy, Guy also maintained his airplane pilot’s license. His home in Des Plaines, IL had numerous electronic devices—long before computerized appliances were known—and his house was featured in home improvement magazines. His Goldwing Motorcycle, decked out with thousands of programmed lights, was also featured in a cycling magazine after winning awards in Americade competitions. Guy suffered a stroke in 1991 and his Mother moved him from Des Plaines, IL to Rush City where they lived at Rush Oaks. Guy was frequently seen around Rush City riding his motorized scooter. Guy was often in local parades riding his much-loved scooter. Father Corey Beldon will officiate at funeral services for Guy Hobart of Rush City; Tuesday; 11 a.m. at the Olson Chapel in Rush City. A time of visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery of Rush City.
