Alan Robert Vaughn

Alan Robert Vaughn, age 72, died on Sunday, January 3, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Rush City, MN after a long battle with cancer. He was born in October 21, 1937 in Rush City, MN to Morris and Sylvia Vaughn. Alan attended Rush City Public School and graduated in 1955. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy and served from 1955-1958. He married Mary Jo Johnson in 1961, and they moved to North Branch, MN where they lived together for 41 years. Alan and Mary Jo were blessed with one son, Kris. During his years in North Branch, Alan worked for Peoples Natural Gas and later became involved in the real estate business. He was very involved in the community and served on the local school board, city council and various other positions. His interests included traveling, hunting, fishing. He enjoyed various sports activities, including football, golf and basketball. He loved spending time with his son and grandchildren. He was very passionate about the outdoors and in particular the northern area of Minnesota with its good fishing lakes. Alan was an enthusiastic fisherman and enjoyed many fishing excursions with family and friends. Alan is survived by son Kris and his wife Paula, and two grandchildren, Erik and Cassie all of North Branch, MN. former wife Mary Jo of North Branch, MN., an aunt, Betty Vaughn of Golden Valley, MN., sister and brother-in-law Laverne and Dick Johnson of Rush City and nephew Brian (Jane) Johnson and niece Heidi (Tim) Blatz and their two children, special cousin Dick (Gail) Strom and various other relatives. Rev. Rebecca Therman will officiate at memorial services Friday (1/8/10) 3:00 p.m. with a time of visitation one hour prior all at the Trinity Lutheran Church of North Branch. A time of celebrating Alan’s life will follow the religious services and lunch at Trinity Lutheran Church; Come and celebrate with Alan’s family at the North Branch American Legion post 85 where Mike and Phyllis Keating will provide music. A spring interment is planned in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Rush City.
