Helen J. Haug

Helen Joyce Haug, age 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Lakeside Nursing Home on March 29th, 2010.  She was born July 2, 1924 in Pine City, MN to William and Patty Gilbert.  Helen attended French school in East Rock Creek and then graduated early from Pine City High School.  She then worked at Bald Eagle Resort in Hugo, MN.  Helen married Harry Haug on November 13, 1943.  They made their home in Rock Creek and then lived their remaining years in Pine City.  Together they raised four children:  Gary, Patty, Mark, and Myron.  Helen was a homemaker and cared not only for her own family, but her sister Bernadine's family as well after she passed away at an early age.  Helen had a loving heart and she welcomed anyone who would come to her door and needed a place to stay.  Helen enjoyed playing cards for many years with different card clubs.  Time was also spent going to various resorts up north with family and friends.  During the evening hours she would relax by working crossword puzzles.  Shopping was always enjoyed along with a good lunch and a piece of raisin cream pie.  Helen slways took pleasure in decorating for all the holidays and getting ready for the grandchildren.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Helen would always bake cookies for the grandkids.  She was an active member with the Immaculate Conception Church of Pine City and for several years she organized wedding receptions and funerals for the parish.Helen is survived by her sons Mark (Linda) Haug, of Pine City, Myron ( Joan) Haug, of Pine City, daughter Patty (Dave) Robbinson of Clayton, WI, daughter-in-law Kathy Haug of Pine City.  Grandchildren, Keith (Jessie) Fielder, of Wyoming, Sandy (Jason) Lutz of Clayton, WI, Troy (Angela) Haug, Pine City, Todd (Kim) Haug, Pine City, Paul (Donna) Haug, Pine City, Becky (Vance) Wedin, Grantsburg, WI, Travis Haug, Pine City and Trevor Haug, Pine City.  She is also survived by eleven great grandchldren:  Ashley Lutz, Emily Lutz, Abbey Haug, Holly Haug, Hunter Haug, Emily Haug, Jaden Fiedler, Kira Fiedler, Austin Wedin, Amber Wedin, and Alexis Wedin.She was preceded in death by her husband Harry, son Gary, her parents, her three sisters, Bernadine, Mae, and Blanche, and her brother Ross.Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 5th at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pine City with Fr. David Forsman officiating.  Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery of Pine City.  Visitation will be on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. with vigil prayers at 7:30 p.m. at Swanson Funeral Chapel, Pine City and 1 hour prior to the Mass in the church commons on Monday.
