Gladys E. Schultz, age 96, Pine City, formerly of Rock Creek, died Monday, May 3, 2010 at Fairview Lakes Medical Center, Wyoming. Gladys was born Sept. 19, 1913 to Fred and Jenny Erickson on a farm near Starkweather, N.D. and graduated from Starkweather School. She moved to Minneapolis and worked for a doctor. On Nov. 16, 1943 she married Arthur T. Schultz. In the early years of marriage they lived in Ronneby, Minn. In 1954 they moved to Rock Creek where they raised broiler chickens. Art and Gladys owned and operated Rock Creek Farm Store from 1957-1976. She was active in Hope Circle at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Sunday School teacher, church quilters, Rock Creek Homemakers and 4-H. Gladys enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, crocheting and her grandchildren. After retiring Gladys and Art did some traveling within the U.S. and abroad. She was able to visit the birthplace of her parents in Norway and Sweden. Gladys showed her love for the Lord through her actions, caring for others and her smile. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur Schultz; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Lorraine Schultz, son-in-law, John Lyons; brothers, Alvin, Alfred, Ernest and Clifford. She is survived, and will be greatly missed, by her sister, Bernice Erickson of Devils Lake; daughter, Carol Lyons of River Falls, Don (Bobbi) Schultz of Rock Creek; grandchildren, Darrin Schultz and three children, Doug (Heather Schultz) and two children, Denise Laynor and son. Jeremy (Jessi) Schultz, four children. Jessica Schultz, Jennifer (Dan) Rydberg and their children, Alana Zbaren (Adam Erickson), Dan (Bonnie) Zbaren and son. Sisters-in law, Gladys, Irene and Eleanor and nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Pine City with Reverend Ron Boettner officiating.  Interment will be in Rock Creek Cemetery.Visitation will be on Friday, May 7th from 6-8 p.m. @ Swanson Funeral Chapel and continue 1 hour prior to the church service on Saturday.
