Ethyl Geraldine Hendrickson

October 11, 1923 — May 14, 2010

Ethyl Geraldine (Lundberg) Hendrickson peacefully went home to be with the Lord on May 14, 2010. She was born on October 11, 1923 at her uncle's home in Rock Creek to parents Oscar and Ruth (Swanson) Lundberg shortly after they returned from visiting relatives in Sweden. Ethyl was raised on a farm near Rock Creek and graduated from Rush City High School. Ethyl and John Willard Hendrickson were married on March 27, 1943 at her parent's home. They were blessed with 2 sons and 2 daughters. In 1957, Ethyl and Willard moved to Babbitt, MN where Willard worked at Reserve Mining and they worshiped and served faithfully at the Babbitt Baptist Church. Willard, and often the whole family, commuted back and forth between Babbitt and Rush City as Willard continued to farm in Rock Creek and visited with numerous family and friends. Ethyl enjoyed singing and often sang in duets or trios and played several instruments including the piano, harpsichord, guitar and accordion. Ethyl and Willard liked to visit their relatives across the country and throughout the years traveled to California, Washington, Arizona and to Canada. Ethyl traveled to Sweden twice to visit her many cousins there. Willard died in 1984 after a lengthy battle with an autoimmune disease that caused damage primarily to his heart. After suffering a severe stroke following surgery in 1988, Ethyl moved to Pine City, MN to live and later Cambridge, MN. In 2002 she moved into the Grandview Christian Home where her mother, Ruth, was also a resident. They enjoyed visiting each other daily. Ethyl is survived by her children: David (Connie) Hendrickson of Andover, MN; Karen (Jerry) Stordahl of Rapid City, SD; John (Carol) Hendrickson of Ham Lake, MN, son-in-law; Ken Wiener of Hinckley, MN; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grand children. Ethyl's sister Elaine (Oliver) Westman of Rush City, MN; her brother Lonnie (Charlotte) Lundberg of Isanti, MN; her faithful friend Cecil Pilgrim of Cambridge, MN, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. All will miss her faith filled countenance, ready smile and encouragement. She was looking forward to her final home going to be with our Lord and we can only imagine her joyful reunion with her parents Oscar and Ruth, her husband Willard, her daughter Lorna and great-grandson Brad Lee Stordahl who journeyed on before her. A celebration of Ethyl’s life and funeral service was celebrated Saturday, May 22 at the Pine City Evangelical Free Church-Lighthouse location with visitation starting at 10 am and the service starting at 11 am. Rev. Robert Brunko officiated. The interment was in the First Lutheran Cemetery of Rush City, Minnesota.
