Harold Hugo Lind

Harold Hugo Lind, age 72, died on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at his home in rural Rush City unexpectedly. He was born March 12, 1938 in Braham, MN to Hugo and Cora Lind. Harold attended Rush City Public Schools and graduated in 1956. He married Yvonne West on October, 4 1958. Harold and Yvonne were blessed with 6 children. Pamela, Keith, Patty, Kenny, Gena and Rhonda. Harold grew-up on a farm in Rush City where he resided, in the custom home he built, until his death. He served in the National Guard. Harold worked in the sprinkler trade after he graduated until 1959 when he establish Lind Plumbing & Heating and ran a successful business for 45 years. He was very active in the community. He was an active member of the Rush City Jaycees and was Charter President in 1965 and has held all local offices where he received the Jaycees International Senator award, the highest honor. He was a member of Jasper Masonic Lodge # 164 in Rush City since 1959; serving as Worshipful Master in 1995, 1996 and 2000; Harold also served as Treasurer of Jasper Masonic Lodge for many years and was actively involved in the Masonic scholarship program; which benefited many local students over the past years. Harold was a member of the Rush City School Board for 13 years, serving as chair for four years, first chair of the Education Cooperative Service Unit, member of the Rush City Hospital Board, member of Rush City Area Chamber of Commerce, member of First Lutheran Church and Rush City Lions. Harold’s years on the school board expressed his great passion for the advancement of education in the Rush City Community. He always stated “if you don’t do it you can’t complain about it”. Harold was a devoted Husband and Father. He found his most joy in playing an active role in the raising his children and now grandchildren. He enjoyed attending their sporting events, school events and watching football with the family. Harold had a great interest in his farm, John Deere Tractors, Vintage Cars, and serving the community he loved. Harold appreciated his time and trips he took with his friends and spoke of them often. He touched many with his stories and left a lasting impression on all he came in contact with. He is survived by his wife Yvonne; his children: Pamela Chatras and husband Mike of Richfield, Patty Cort and her husband Bill of Rush City, Ken Lind and Karla Jenkins of Rush City, Gena Carlson and husband Ken of Rush City, Rhonda Patzoldt and her husband Mike of Pine City, grandchildren: Sam, Chad Chatras, Laura, Bobbi and Bill Cort, Ryan Lind, Cody and Nia Patzoldt and his Brother Philip Lind and his wife Caroline of Mounds View. Preceding Harold is his parents Hugo and Cora Lind, son Keith Lind and brother Harvey Lind. Rev. Laurie O’Shea officiated at funeral services for Harold Lind of Rush City; 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City. A time of visitation and reviewal was held Friday evening from 4:30 P.M. -8 p.m. at the Olson Chapel in Rush City and also one hour prior at the church on Saturday. Interment was in the First Lutheran Cemetery of Rush City. Memorials are preferred to First Evangelical Lutheran Church Building Fund and American Diabetes Association.
