August 7, 1916 — August 8, 2010

Laura Pauline Anderson of Pine City, Minnesota went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at the Lakeside Medical Center in Pine City.  She was 94 years of age. Laura was born August 7, 1916 in Rock Creek, Minnesota to Charles and Mary (Anderson) Hendrickson.  The family farmed in the Rock Creek area and Laura attended the McKay and Rock Creek Schools.  When the Rock Creek School burned down in 1923, she attended Pine City Schools for a short time and later finished her education at Rock Creek when the school was rebuilt. The Lord touched Laura’s heart while attending evangelistic meetings in Rush City, and she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at a young age.  She became a member of the East Rock Creek Baptist Church, and as an adult became a member of the Pine City Evangelical Free Church.  In later years she was a member of the Rush City Bible Church. Laura married Herbert L. Anderson on June 8, 1940.  They made their first home in Greely, Minnesota and later lived in Stacy and Mahtowa as creamery work became available for Herbert.  Herbert was drafted into the service during World War II and when he returned home in 1946, started an insurance business while living in the Rock Creek area.  Later they made their home in Pine City. Laura will be remembered by her family and friends for her faithful walk with the Lord, for her many talents and her hospitality.  The door was always open for afternoon coffee and Sunday dinners.  Laura was musical and played several instruments, including the organ at church.  She also enjoyed sewing, antiques, reading, gardening, and Scrabble. Laura is survived by her children:  Lyle (Bev) Anderson of Gonvick, MN, Pauline (Dennis) Wahlstrom of Mesa, AZ, Vern (Betty) Anderson of Pine City, and Ardyce (David) Larson of Tucson, AZ; eight grandchildren;23 great grandchildren; sister:  Effie Hendrickson of Rock Creek; many other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert L. Anderson, parents, Charles and Mary Hendrickson, 7 sisters, 3 brothers, and a grandson.  Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday at Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City with visitation on Thursday from 5-7 pm and continuing 1 hour prior to the service on Friday.  Interment will be in Birchwood Cemetery of Pine City
