Alton "Andy" Eugene Anderson

Alton "Andy" E. Anderson passed away at Sanford hospital in Fargo, ND on Wednesday, July 24, 2019.

Andy was born in Rush City on May 6, 1928 to Frank and Mabel (Mell) Anderson with one older brother Everett.  Andy attended the Rush City public school and graduated in May of 1945 with perfect attendance in all grades.  Following high school, Andy served as a corporal in the 11th Airborne Division as a parachutist and glider infantry in Japan.  He received an honorable discharge on March 3, 1948.

After returning home he went to work for August Southerland in Excelsior.  On September 10, 1950, he married Sarah A. Peterson of Braham.  They had gone on many fishing excursions, and went to many dances before they said I do.  She was a true partner for him in the things he liked to do and he said many times she was the love of his life.

He worked for Joe Boyer in the late 50's and Earl Nelson in the early 60's.  About 1966, Andy started his construction business in Excelsior.  Sarah and Andy raised 3 children in Excelsior: David, Rebecca and Kathleen (Kay).  Upon retirement Andy and Sarah moved to Erhard on a lake where they could enjoy fishing any day of the week and when the months turned colder Andy could hunt deer, duck, goose etc.

Andy is survived by his son David (Renee) Anderson and their daughter Tyra Anderson of Becker; daughter Kay (Paul) Furr of Erhard; son-in-law Cliff Johnson of North Hollywood, California; sister-in-law Marvel Anderson St Paul.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Mabel Anderson; wife Sarah Anderson; daughter Rebecca Anderson; brother Everett Anderson.

Pastor Howie Krienke will officiate at funeral services for Andy; 2 PM; Saturday, August 17, 2019 with a time for family and friends to gather one hour prior to the service all at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City. The interment will take place in the First Lutheran Cemetery, Rush City with military honors provided by Rush City American Legion Post #93, Grothe-Jacobson VFW Post #6692, and Minnesota National Guard.

The family would ask that memorials be directed to the American Heart Association.
