Anne Cornillie passed away Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Prairie Senior Cottages of Isanti at the age of 84.
Anne Marie Thoen was born July 30, 1941 to Edwin and Minnie (Anderson) Thoen near Farwell, Minnesota. She was the youngest of three children after Clifford and Willis. Coming of age, she became ever known as Anne Marie.
Growing up out in the country, Anne Marie was surrounded by numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. She attended the local one-room schoolhouse and then graduated from Kensington High School. She was baptized and received her personal Pentecost experience at the edge of Mattson Lake. Post graduation, she moved to the St. Paul and found secretarial work. One of her great talents was the ability to take dictation in real time using the cryptic written language of short-hand.
Somewhere along the greyhound bus route between St. Paul and Harris, Anne Marie caught the wandering eye of a North Branch farmer named Jimmy and the two bravely exchanged information. A riverboat date on the St. Croix river, a few rides in Jimmy’s Camaro and soon they were married on Thanksgiving day, November 28, 1974.
Anne Marie was known for her sweet and gentle spirit. Although never having kids of her own, she doted endlessly on children; especially young girls. The beauty of her small cottage was unmatched. She poured out caring and love without reservation.
She will be dearly missed by all those who loved her, including her brother Willis (Rosalie) Thoen, nieces and nephews, cousins, and many other family members, fellow church members, friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Minnie Thoen; husband James "Jimmy" Cornillie; brother Clifford (Naomi) Thoen.
Reverend Bruce Penner will officiate funeral services for Anne: 1 PM; Friday, May 22, 2026 with a time of visitation and reviewal 2 hours prior to the service all at the Amazing Grace Church of Harris. The interment will take place in Sunrise Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
