Anthony Nathan Rowell

Tony Rowell, our beloved brother, uncle, cousin and friend passed away Monday, March 13, 2023 at Elderwood of Hinckley at the age of 66.

Anthony Nathan Rowell was born October 26, 1956 to Harry and Josephine (Platzer) Rowell in St. Paul  Minnesota.  Tony grew up and attended schools in St. Paul.  He later moved to the northern Minnesota area to be closer to his extended family.

Tony loved the outdoors, an avid walker, walking 5-10 miles a day.  On his many walks he looked for different kinds of trees and scenery and would love to report the weather to everyone that he could.  Tony enjoyed fishing and would do so whenever he had the chance.  He was employed with the Hinckley Grand Casino and also worked in a scrap yard.  joyfully picking through old parts and finding “new and exciting stuff”.  His love for working gave him new adventures and many new friends which he talked about often. 

He loved spending time with his many siblings, nieces and nephews.  Tony often would tell stories about the things he found walking and picking through metals at the scrap yard.  He was filled with compassion for his family members, especially his nieces and nephews.  Tony will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Tony is lovingly survived by his sisters/brothers-in-law Lucille (Bob) Fazekas, Cathy (Denny) McKenna of Northfield, Harriet (Ken) Keil of St. Paul; brother Lewis Rowell of Hinckley; many nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews; other relatives and friends.  

He was preceded in death by his parents Harry & Josephine Rowell, sisters Fran, Amelia, Anna Mae; brothers Larry, Lester, Richard and Junior.

A celebration of Tony's life will be held at a future date.
