Brook Park

Bev Nelson of Brook Park passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023 at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth at the age of 93.

Beverly Constance Campeau was born February 4, 1930 to Albert and Cora (Constantineau) Campeau in Somerset, Wisconsin. Bev lived in Somerset until the age of 12 when the family moved to Stillwater. She attended St. Mike’s Catholic school until 8th grade. She then moved to Amery, Wisconsin to stay with her uncle, where she attended school and helped on the farm with her cousin. Wherever she lived, she worked hard to help.

Beverly met her husband, Vernie B. Nelson, while babysitting for his sister, now, aunt Vicky. They were married and moved around, doing different jobs, such as raising sheep and milking cows. They lived in the Twin Cities when she became pregnant with her youngest daughter. She worked at Pearson Candy company and Brown & Bigelow for many years until she retired. She had a hard life that shaped her into the strong, loving woman she became. While living in Pine City she joined bowling leagues, enjoyed ceramics, and scrapbooking with her many friends. Bev loved riding horses and watching the horses on her daughter’s farm. She loved playing horseshoes, dice games, cross stitching, and puzzles. Most of all, she loved fishing and card games. She would feed the birds and enjoyed seeing all the different varieties.

Beverly is survived by her children: Gerry (Donna) Ensing of Vesuvius, VA, Gloria (Jerry) Schiermeister of Spring Hills, FL, Lila Mae (Jerry) Zbytovsky of Brook Park; step-daughter Jean Graham of Motley; 13 grandchildren; many great and great-great-grandchildren; siblings LaVonne (Delmer) Knefelkamp of Stillwater, Roger (Twyla) Campeau of New Hope.

Preceded in death by her parents Albert and Cora Campeau; husband Verine Nelson; children infant daughter Jeanett; step-son Vernon "Butch" Nelson; siblings Irene Johnson, Dorothy Ensign, Benjamin "Pete" Campeau, Merrill Campeau, Conrad Campeau; grandchildren Gloria Lewis, Robert Gonier Jr.; great-grandson Logan Zbytovsky; granddaughter-in-law Aimee Zbytovsky.
