Bradley Thomas Cook of Rush City passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 76 after a long battle with cancer.
Brad was born on August 11, 1949 to James and Shirley (Wood) Cook in Farmington, Minnesota. He attended Rush City and graduated from Rush City High School in 1967.
He went on to a vocational college before joining the United States Marines in 1969 where he served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1975.
Upon discharge from the military, he sold his prized corvette to launch the start of his business ventures with friends, Loren Jennings and Jerry Moses. Throughout the years, they ran multiple different companies, most notably Kingers and M & M Sanitation (East Central Sanitation).
In 1986, Brad and Linda were married, continuing their lives in Rush City while raising their two children.
Brad was fortunate to have had many successful businesses, selling East Central Sanitation in 2016 and retiring to pursue hobbies including hunting and fishing as well as coin collecting, car collecting and of course lawn care. Brad was able to spend a lot of his time on Mille Lacs at the cabin, in Arizona with friends, and many family trips with the grandkids.
Because of his love for cars and Rush City, we have to decided to do a donation in Brad’s memory for the Rockin’ Rush City Car Show in August, where we will also plan a celebration of life event.
Brad is survived by his children Breanna (Derek) Cook of Scandia, Brandon (Cassie) Cook of Rush City; grandchildren Brinley, Coen, Wells, Kennedy, Evelynn, Sawyer, Tate; siblings Steve (Louise) Cook of Alexandria, Val Sybrant of Brooklyn Park, Pete (Julie) Cook, Joe (Regina) Cook, John (Kathy) Cook, Tim (Tammy) Cook all of Rush City; along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Shirley Cook; sisters Deb Vogel, Jan Radman; and brother Corey Cook.
