Bruce Bernard Burda

July 28, 1936 — May 7, 2022

Bruce Burda of the Harris/Stark area passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Woodbury Care Center in Woodbury at the age of 85.

Bruce Bernard Burda was born July 28, 1936 to Clarence Sr. and Helen (Olson) Burda in Fish Lake Township, Minnesota. He was the second eldest of five boys.

Bruce attended grade school at District #23 in Stark, which is now the "Full Moon" except part of the 7th grade when the family lived in Spring Lake. His dad had just sold their tavern, which was Pace's Tavern. Grandpa Henry Burda and Bruce's dad made a house out of the creamery, the building next to the tavern. As a young man Bruce worked for the farmers in the area around Stark. He graduated from North Branch High School in 1954.

In 1954 and 1955, he went to northern Minnesota, where they were building a taconite plant in Hoyt Lakes. In 1956, Burda Radio and TV Service started in the old boiler room of his parents home in Stark. Bruce was drafted into the United States Army from 1959-1961 in the Medic-Dental Corps so he had to shut down his shop during that time. After being honorably discharged as a Spec-4 in 1961, Bruce returned to his repair business; now located by Little Horseshoe Lake, until his retirement in 2012. Bruce enjoyed the service business where he met the greatest people! He would enjoy a cup of coffee and a always had a great visit with his customers.

Bruce also enjoyed living by Little Horseshoe Lake. If he had a few minutes, he enjoyed fishing and eating the fish he caught. Any extra fish were given away for a meal or two or three. Bruce belonged to the Oak Leaf Grange of Stark for over 60 years and held the office of Master (President) for many years. He was also a member of the State Grange of Minnesota holding many offices.

Bruce is survived by his brothers Dick (Jan) Burda and Don Burda all of Harris; nieces and nephews Michelle (David) Mihail, Jim (Jessica) Burda, Laura (Travis) Swanson, Angie Burda, Susan Burda, Tim (Michele) Burda; great-nieces and great-nephews Caroline, Colton and Peyton Burda, Clara and Della Swanson, Trenton and Brodrick Burda.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence Sr. and Helen Burda; brothers Curt (Patty) Burda, Clarence Burda, Jr.; sister-in-law Arlene Burda.
