Charlene Marie Schwarz

Charlene Schwarz passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Northern Pines Assisted Living at the age of 90.

Charlene Marie Schwarz was born on November 29, 1933 to Matthew and Emma (Johnson) Youngbauer in Braham, Minnesota. She attended the West Rock Country School and then graduated from the Pine City High School in 1950. Charlene married the love of her life, Donald Schwarz on December 10, 1951. Donald and Charlene were married for 65 years and raised their family on the farm. She was very proud of her family of five children; four sons and one daughter; followed by twelve grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.  

She enjoyed her time with family, traveling with friends, going to horse shows and trail rides with family, playing bingo, camping and shopping. She worked as a secretary for H&R Block in Pine City and managed Hillside Court in Pine City.

Charlene will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. With heavy hearts we will say goodbye to a fun, hard working, kind and generous woman. She was very special to all. 

Charlene is survived by her children Larry (Donna) Schwarz of Aragon, New Mexico, Coleen (Glen) Peterson of Pine City, Andy (Mary) Schwarz of Pine City, Bill (Pam) Schwarz of Askov, Bob (Sue) Schwarz of Duluth; eleven grandchildren: Clint, Vickie (Troy), Nichole (Jim), Shaune, Travis (Kristen), Cole, Jordan and Jesse; nineteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Bonnie Youngbauer of Pine City; and many nieces and nephews. 

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents Matthew and Emma Youngbauer; husband Donald Schwarz; brothers Clarence (Mary Ann), Jim (Lois), twin brother Charles, Ernie Youngbauer; and grandson Drew Schwarz.

Reverend Glen Kleppe will officiate at funeral services for Charlene at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 20, 2023 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Pine City.  A time of visitation and reviewal is planned for Monday evening from 5 - 7 PM at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City and also one hour prior to the funeral at the Zion Lutheran Church. Casket bearers include: Shaune Macho, Jim Laven, Travis Schwarz, Cole Schwarz, Clint Schwarz, Jesse Schwarz, Jordan Schwarz and Troy Colsrud. The interment will take place in Birchwood Cemetery, Pine City.
