Cody Charles Peterson

January 4, 1990 — January 21, 2026

River Falls

Cody Charles Peterson, 36, of River Falls, Wisconsin, formerly of Pine City, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly on January 21, 2026.

Born January 4, 1990, to Terry and Debra (Jewell) Peterson in Chisago City.  Cody became a big brother to his sister, Morgan, in 1993 and again to his brother, Alex, in 1999. He loved to hangout with his siblings whether it was playing games, building with Legos, being outside playing with the animals, playing HORSE out on the cement pad in front of the garage or just watching TV. Cody was a jokester and also had a heart of gold with the best hugs and would do anything for anybody, but especially for his family.

He graduated high school in 2008 from Pine City School District and college in 2013 from the University of Wisconsin - Stout. After graduation, Cody built a meaningful career as a mechanical engineer. He started his career at United Gear & Assembly in Hudson and worked there for 11 years and recently began as a Quality Engineer at SCT Manufacturing.

He served his community with pride as a Captain of the River Falls Fire Department and as a dedicated fire instructor for Chippewa Valley Technical College. Cody poured his energy into training and mentoring new firefighters - always teaching with patience, humor, and a firm belief that everyone could rise to the challenge.

Cody loved the outdoors and lived fully. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography, flying his drones, cheering on the Minnesota Wild, going to concerts, and spending time making memories with family and friends. He adored his fur baby, Mia, and was deeply devoted to his fire department family. He was generous, loyal, and someone who made you feel like family the moment you met him.

Cody is survived by his parents Terry and Debra Peterson. Siblings Alex Peterson and Morgan (Matt) Doenz, niece/goddaughter Harper. Honorary brother Jeff (Liz) Pawelko and their daughters Cece, Lettie and Emmi who are also honorary nieces/goddaughters. He is also survived by his grandmother Evelyn Jewell and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Cody is preceded in death by his grandfather Eugene Jewell, his grandparents Robert and Mary Peterson and his beloved fur baby Remi.

Visitation will be held at Swanson Funeral Chapel from 5-8 PM Thursday (1/29/26) in Pine City.
