Dennis James Hanson

November 4, 1950 — August 14, 2019

Dennis Hanson of Brook Park was called home Wednesday, August 14, 2019 after a two year battle with ALS at the age of 68.

Dennis James Hanson was born November 4, 1950 to Clifford and Betty (Renquist) Hanson in Poplar, Wisconsin. In 1968, Dennis graduated from Northwestern High School in Maple, Wisconsin.  That same year he married his first wife and together they had two sons; Travis (Angela) Hanson and Ryan (Michelle) Hanson.

Dennis worked as a diesel mechanic for Lakehead Pipeline in Deer River, Minnesota for 15 years before buying a dry cleaners in Bovey, Minnesota in 1982. After a downturn in the Iron Range economy in the 80’s Dennis moved to Pine County.  It was in Pine County he met Lynn Martini, his wife of 20 years. Dennis and Lynn raised four daughters; Wendy, Wanda, Regina and Rachel.

He worked for many years in Hinckley at Grand Casino and Tobies making many friends and acquaintances. He was a talented musician, playing guitar from a young age.  He was an avid sports fan, Dennis watched the Packers every Sunday with his wife, an ardent Viking fan, making for an interesting dynamic. He wore Packers apparel all the time and would remind family and friends of the Super Bowls they had won.  He was eternally grateful for the exceptional care he received from his wife Lynn, daughter Wendy, and Fairview Hospice, as they kept him at home for the duration of illness and a peaceful end to a debilitating affliction.

Dennis is survived by his wife Lynn Hanson of Brook Park; children Wendy (Jesse) Lindahl of Pine City, Wanda Pickett (Ryan Deming) of Range, Wisconsin, Regina Anderson of Brook Park, Rachel Anderson (Tom Towle) of Siren, Wisconsin, Travis (Angela) Hanson of Superior, Ryan (Michelle) Hanson of Connecticut; grandchildren: Victoria, Noel, Dominick, Zena, Summer, Jordan, Hannah, Phillip, Monica, Kylee, Jacob, Jackson, Isabella, Sophia, Josephine, Shyloh, Ricky, Donavan, Joseph, Maximillian, and Samuel; 4 great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister Peggy (Pete) Glidden of Braham; brother Daniel Hanson (Tobin) of Massachusetts; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Betty Hanson; sister Mary Jane (Gary) Bridge.
