Dixie Lee Logue

December 22, 1941 — November 21, 2023

Harris

Dixie Lee Logue, age 81, of Harris, Minnesota passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.

She fought many health issues. However, it would be wrong to say she lost her battle to lung cancer. She fought it on her own terms and never surrendered. She remained strong and defiant to the very end. And she was genuinely happy to be going home.

Dixie Lee Kanneman was born December 22, 1941 to Clarence and Wanda (Jensen) Kanneman in Tyler, Minnesota. She was raised with two younger brothers in Madelia, Minnesota. She was a member of the Madelia High School marching band, where she played the drums and graduated in 1959.

She then went on to raise a family of her own. For years, she was a stay-at-home Mom of four in Kissimmee, Florida. Following her divorce, she moved her kids back to Minnesota where her roots have always been.

She was employed by Ford Motor Company for 25 years. Dixie was an extremely proud member of UAW Local 879. She retired in 2002. On her last day, her Ford family at the Twin Cities Assembly Plant threw her a "Salute to Dixie Day", complete with a ride home in a stretch limousine.

Dixie was a true matriarch. A touchstone for so many - her home has always been the focal point for so many milestones, celebrations, and every holiday.

Her door was always open. All who entered were greeted with a smile, a cup of coffee, or a "Naty Light", and asked..."Are you hungry??" Infamously known for her goulash, banana bread, and bacon-grease popcorn.

Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. She will be greatly missed!

Dixie is survived by her children Shane "Opie" (Annette) Logue of Rush City, Katrina Thompson of Harris, Christian (Paula) Logue of Pekin, Indiana, Shannon "Nubby" Logue of Rush City; grandchildren Blake Schellbach, Shelbi (David) Larsen, Annie Thompson, Amanda Thompson, James (Natalia) Thompson, Shawn Thompson, Heidi (David) Ballage, Drew Logue, Cooper Logue, Lucas Logue; great-grandchildren Jamillia, Landon, Stevie, Audriana, Jackson, Luca, Rori, Duke; brother James (Mary) Kanneman of Cottage Grove; nephew Christopher Paul (Tonya) Kanneman of St. Paul; a few dear, dear friends of 60+ years Roberta and Jim, Jackie and Penny; and many other "extended family" and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lyle and Vonda Hawker and Clarence Kanneman; brother Charles "Chucky" Kanneman; grandson Darby Logue.

A Celebration of Life will be Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 5-8 PM at the Olson Funeral Chapel of Rush City; the Homecoming Service will be held at 11 AM Friday, December 8, 2023 with a luncheon to follow, at Access Church, 4359 392nd Street, North Branch.  The interment will take place in First Lutheran Cemetery, Rush City, following the luncheon.

Arrangements are entrusted to: Funeral And Cremation Service of Rush City~Olson Chapel.
