Don Stoffel passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at his home in Pine City at the age of 80.
Donald Paul Stoffel was born on September 14, 1944 to Nicholas and Caroline (Kick) Stoffel in Pine City Township, Minnesota. He attended Rock Lake Country School until the seventh grade. In 1962, Donnie graduated from Pine City High School and attended the University of Minnesota.
In 1968, Don met his future wife, Verlys Biggins at the Pine Camp Ballroom. They were married on February 21, 1970 and made their first home in Rush City. They moved so Don could attend barber school. In 1979, Don and Verlys moved to the Stoffel family farm in Pine City and opened "The Barbers".
Don had a love for anything outdoors; over the years he took flowers and vegetables from his garden to the county fair, each year he earned more ribbons. He enjoyed sharing stories with anyone who might listen; he had a passion for visiting with friends and family. Don actively played on several softball teams and umpired many games over the years. Once the snow flew you could find him playing cards; cribbage with Verlys and the grandkids, "500" at the card club, or hand and foot tournaments on the holidays. Whenever family was visiting you could be sure there was a card game being played.
Family was important to Don, he spent as much time as he could with his wife, kids, and grandkids. Often, he would rearrange his schedule to be able to attend family activities. Don loved the family farm and planned multiple family reunions for his aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Don is survived by his wife Verlys Stoffel of Pine City; children Darold Stoffel of Beroun, Jenny (Ben) Hofmeister of Albertville, Jessie (Branden) Johnson of Pine City; grandchildren Devon Geisler, Alexis (Tanner) Krutzig, Austin Houle, Lake Hofmeister, Noelle Hofmeister, Maiya Hofmeister, Bryce Johnson, Paige Johnson, Tristian Johnson, Roman Johnson, Faith Johnson; great grandchildren Jovi Geisler, Carter Geisler, Ivy Geisler, Carson Krutzig, Cooper Krutzig; siblings Lenny Stoffel, Johanne Stoffel both of Pine City; sisters-in-law Linda Cook of Rush City, Nancy Mallery of Shafer; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his parents Nick & Caroline Stoffel; siblings Carl (JoAnne) Stoffel, Delphine (Ed) Belko, Eleanor (Marlin) Carlson, brothers-in-law Joe Mallery, Bobby Biggins; in-laws Julie & Verdie Biggins, Lloyd Christian.
