Doris Ann Weis

July 9, 1944 — February 18, 2020

Doris Weis passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at her home in Hinckley at the age of 75.

Doris Ann DuVall was born July 9, 1944 to Morris and Anna (Horns) DuVall in Pine City, Minnesota.  During her childhood Doris’ family moved several times within the Pine City area.  Growing up on farms, she always had animals around her and loved all of them; chickens, dogs, cats and even the family workhorses Prince and Barney.

In 1959 Doris met Gerald “Jerry” Weis Sr. and they were married October 22, 1960 in Pine City.  In their early years of marriage when Jerry was in the military they lived in Colorado and Georgia.  In 1963, they settled in Pine City and began to raise their three children, Gerald Jr., Laurie and Bryan.

Doris was a compassionate person and the best mother and mother-in-law she knew how to be.  She was always up to seeing the grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed every minute of their small talk conversations.  She loved animals, especially her house dogs.

Doris always had vegetable and flower gardens; in the fall you would find a tub of freshly picked apples waiting to be used in her baked goods.  At harvest time Doris made sure the help was fed and no one ever went back to the field hungry.  Her heart was working with animals; milking her own herd.  After she quit milking her own herd, she continued to help Jerry Jr. and Yvette with the daily never ending chores.

Doris loved old time music, dancing and visiting with friends and family. She and Jerry Sr. had the opportunity to enjoy some of their favorites in concert; Johnny and June Cash, Bobby Bare, Bill Anderson just to name a few.   Doris will be missed and never forgotten

Doris is survived by her husband Gerald “Jerry” Weis, Sr. of Hinckley; children Jerry Jr. (Yvette) Weis of Hinckley, Laurie (Jerome) Plessel of Pine City, Bryan (Denise) Weis of Grasston; grandchildren Jessica (Jacob) Persson, Aaron (Jordan) Weis, Nicholes (Charisse) Tavernier, Ashley (Tyler) Lakeberg, Joshua (Bailey) Weis; step grandchildren Shanelle (Jerry) Saunders, John Dube, Ryan Fitzsimmons (Brooklyn Peterson); great-grandchildren Laken, Corbin and Berkley Persson, Hayden Weis, Tanner, Chloe, Nathan and Raymond Tavernier, Owen and Britta Lakeberg, Lillian Weis; step great-grandchildren Charlotte Fitzsimmons and Wren Saunders; many other relatives and friends.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents Morris and Anna DuVall; father-in-law and mother-in-law Carl and Louise (Mohr) Weis; half-brother Ed Wanous; grandson Timothy Gerald Weis; great-granddaughter McKenzie Lynn Tavernier.
