Doris Wolf of Rush City passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Sophies Manor in Pine City at the age of 87.Doris Virginia Anderson was born in the Harris, Minnesota area on April 22, 1930, the first of four children born to Clarence and Victoria (Okerson) Anderson. When Doris was four years old, she moved with her parents to the Government Road north of Rush City. She attended grade school at District 23 (McKay School) and graduated from Rush City High School in 1948. Doris was a hard worker at her parents’ home, helping in the barn and in the fields with tractor work. Following graduation, she worked in the Twin Cities at Woolworth’s, Medical Arts and Dayton’s.In 1949, Doris married Robert Behrendt at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rush City and to this union two children were born: Robert Jr. and Bernice. Doris and Bob farmed on his home place until his untimely death in 1965. In 1966, Doris married Kenneth Wolf of rural Rush City at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa and to this union two children were born: Shellie and Scott.Doris was employed as a dietary aid at the Rush City Hospital and in later years as a cook at Hillcrest Health Care Center for 17 years when she retired in 1996 due to ill health. Doris enjoyed cooking, baking and flower gardening. In the late 1990’s, she baked many dozens of fancy Christmas cookies and bars for a large furniture chain where her sister worked. In 1993, she was awarded the Yard of the Week. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were an important part of her life and she enjoyed taking care of them whenever needed.A believer in Jesus Christ as her Savior, Doris was baptized in the Lutheran faith and a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City for many years.Doris is survived by her children: Bernice Marier of Nickerson, Shellie Johnson of Luck, Wisconsin, Scott (Jenny) Wolf of Rush City; grandchildren: Allen Behrendt, Tracy (Keith) Blazek, Crystle (Jesse) Kraft, Jessica Teich, Braxton, Benjamin and Broderick Wolf; great-grandchildren: Blaine and Kassidy Blazek and Levi, Lydia and Milo Kraft; brother C. Duane (Judy) Anderson; sisters: Margaret Marty (Dean Madison) and Lorraine Marty; beloved dog Dahla; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.She is preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Victoria Anderson; husband Robert Behrendt; son Robert (Linda) Behrendt Jr.; son-in-law Gerome Marier; brothers-in-law Gaylon and Gordon Marty.Reverend Laurie O’Shea will officiate at funeral services for Doris: 2 PM; Friday (5/5) at First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City. A time of visitation and reviewal is planned from 5-8 PM Thursday (5/4) at the Olson Funeral Chapel and 1 hour prior to the service at the church. The interment will take place at First Lutheran Cemetery in Rush City.
