Evelyn Alma Schwartzwald

January 8, 1918 — April 22, 2022

Evelyn Alma Schwartzwald, age 104, of Pine City, Minnesota in a peaceful respite at Parmly on the Lake, went to her eternal home with the Lord on Friday, April 22, 2022.  She was born in Minnesota on January 8, 1918 to Fredrick and Anna Walberg, in Nessel Township on East Rush Lake.  Evelyn married her loving husband Clarence Schwartzwald on October 9, 1935.

Evelyn enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and taking hikes, especially up north. She loved entertaining and provided incredibly delicious meals and desserts. Her passion for recipes went into her late 90's. She loved winter and snow; shoveling the ice rink on the lake, snow blowing her walks and driveway clear; as well as her neighbors. Her favorite times and memories were of the North Shore of Lake Superior. She started this tradition in the 1960's and continued until her last trip at the age of 99. Trips with her husband and later with grandchildren and great-grandchildren were always special times. She enjoyed watching the moon and sun rise over the lake as she sat in her favorite rocking recliner. She loved the glistening canvas of thousands of sparkling diamonds reflecting off the water; especially when having her morning coffee.

Evelyn is survived by her grandchildren: Greg (Deb) Thiry, Denise (Mark) Ziperski, Lynnette (Dan) Phillips, Dray (Sara) Thiry, Shane (Melissa) Thiry; great-grandchildren: Moriah, Nash, Joshua Thiry, Dane, Evan, Ian Ziperski, Braxton, Lydia, Hunter Phillips, Shae, Shelby, Ayla, Iris, Wylder, Isabella, Isaiah Thiry; sisters: Joanne Daniels, Marilyn (Joe) DeCaire, Carolyn Linderg, Kathleen Braman, Marlene Lee, Sharon (Ron) Widell; brothers: Don (Hope) Walberg, Roger (Linda) Walberg, Milt (Joann) Walberg; many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Fredrick and mother Anna; husband Clarence; beloved daughter Janet Thiry; brother Kenneth Walberg, George Miller, David Miller; sisters Gladys Walberg, Eleanor Walberg.

Reverend Glen Kleppe will officiate funeral services for Evelyn: 11 AM; Friday, May 13, 2022 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Pine City.  A gathering of family and friends is planned for one hour prior to the service at the church. The interment will take place in Birchwood Cemetery, Pine City.
