Memorial service for Frank Gisch, 93, of Rush City, formerly of St. Paul, will be 10:30 AM; Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City with Pastor John Braland officiating. Friends may gather one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will be 2 PM; August 4, 2026 at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Frank died Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at his home surrounded by family under hospice care.
He was born January 11, 1933 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Adolph and Johana (Tehilda) Gisch and attended St. Francis Catholic School in St. Paul. He was drafted into the US Army on April 21, 1953 and was discharged April 20, 1955. On August 18, 1956 he married Myrna May Jones in St Paul.
Frank began working as a window washer, then a wall washer and then as a general repairman for Anchor Hospital in St. Paul with 44 years of service. Many of those years he spent working along side his brother Adolph “Butz”.
In retirement he enjoyed doing home repairs for family and friends and working on and repairing classic cars. Frank was instrumental in organizing the Rush City Air Show for several years. His passion was woodworking – where he created wooden airplanes and a wooden replica of his childhood home. He and Myrna enjoyed traveling throughout the United States over the years. A special travel memory of his was being able to travel with his daughter who is a US veteran on the Veterans Honor Flight to Washington DC in 2019.
Survivors include his wife, Myrna of 68 years; daughter, Brenda Gisch-Waletzki; son, Frank Martin “Marty” Gisch; granddaughters: Nikita and Daria Waletzki; great granddaughter, Harper; several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Johana; siblings: Adolph, George and John.
