Howard Clifford of Stanchfield passed away at Abbott Northwestern Hospital on December 1, 2024 at the age of 57.
Howard "Howie" Arthur Clifford was born on September 8, 1967 to Francis "Crowbar" and Lois (Radford) Clifford at the Rush City Hospital. Howie was the youngest of seven siblings and always had a love for the great outdoors all of his life. He grew up on a farm on the outskirts of Rush City. He enjoyed riding bikes, working on machines, hunting and fishing.
Howie was also known as a great father who shared his love of the outdoors and life with his four children. He instilled in them the values he held of being an honest and hardworking person who adds value to the world. Known as “Bapa Howie” to his seven (almost eight) grandchildren, he was looked up to as a gentle, caring man who loved them with all his heart. He also loved his nieces and nephews like his own.
Howie was known in his career as a great manager who was always there for his staff and colleagues. He did anything he could to help others succeed and reach their full potential. He was a true leader in his actions and words.
Howie had a great love for mud trucks, wheelers, sleds and virtually anything with wheels. His favorite part of these activities was that they brought together his friends and family. He lived in Stanchfield with his partner Torri and their dogs Harvey and Cubby.
In August 2023, Howie was diagnosed with ALS and fought the terrible disease with everything he had. On December 1st, 2024, Howie passed away to go home to our lord and savior in peace.
Howie is survived by his partner Torri Mell of Stanchfield; children Willy (Char) Clifford, Stephen Clifford (Amy Urman), Kevin (Amber) Clifford all of Harris, Tessa (Cody) Torkelson of North Branch; grandchildren Owen, Layne, Jemi, Nora, Case, Logen, Danny and soon-to-be baby Henry; siblings Janie (Jay) Corrier of Rush City, Susan (Stephen) Saine of Montevideo, Scott Clifford of North Branch; many nieces, nephews and cousins; other relatives and friends.
