James "Jim" Joseph McNamara

James “Jim” McNamara of Pine City passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at his home on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at the age of 80.

James Joseph McNamara was born October 7, 1939 to Melvin and Helen (Kammerer) McNamara in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Jim grew up in St. Paul and graduated from St. Agnes High School in 1958 where he played basketball, baseball and football. He was in the Coast Guard Reserves for eight years. In 1962, he graduated from Minneapolis Business College. That same year he married the love of his life: Patty. Jim started his career as an accountant, but soon switched to sales, primarily in insurance.

Jim loved his family, fishing and all sports. His family was his entire life.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Patricia (Pat) McNamara of Pine City; children Ron (Shari) McNamara of Minneapolis, David McNamara of Forest Lake, Julie (Jeff) Morgan of Pelican Rapids, Kevin (Jenn) McNamara of Harris; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Michelle Schepers of North St. Paul, Cheryl Krzmarzick of Maplewood, Kathy (Gary) Brown of Wyoming, Ann (David) Molitor of Forest Lake, Jackie McNamara of Lake Elmo; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Helen McNamara; brother Richard McNamara; great-granddaughter Lilly; father-in-law and mother-in-law Jerome (Adele) Krzmarzick; sisters-in-law Adele Krzmarzick and Mary Jo Krzmarzick.

There will be a private celebration of Jim’s life at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City.

Memorials may be directed to the Lupus Foundation or the American Heart Association.
