James Mielke of Rush City passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 72 years old.
James was born in Minneapolis to Erwin and Mildred (Hanson) Mielke.
A longtime resident of Rush City, Minnesota. James was deeply connected to his family.
He was a man who found joy in creating, building, and spending time doing the things he loved. He had a remarkable talent for intricate leatherwork, putting patience and craftsmanship into every piece he made. He enjoyed building guns and canoes, always taking pride in working with his hands and turning an idea into something tangible.
When he wasn’t working on one of his many projects, he could often be found spending time with his family, watching an old Western, or sitting with his guitar. These simple pleasures brought him happiness, but his greatest enjoyment came from sharing his time and interests with the people he loved.
James’ sarcastic personality, and quick wit will be greatly missed.
James is survived by his wife of 52 years Cynthia Mielke; sons Jason (Melissa) Mielke and Nathan (Chiree) Mielke all of Rush City; grandkids Shawnee (Spencer), Johnathan (Lisa), Shyanne, Dylan (Kaylee), Dalton (Summer), Daniel (Taylor), Jameson, and Madilynn; 14 great-grandkids Harrison, Henry, Bentley, Brecken, Isabelle, Aiden, Mazie, Baby M, Rivers, Forrest, Rainy, Isla, Miles, and Lena; siblings Jane St. George of Elk River, and Ted (Sue) Coggeshall of Saginaw, Michigan; other relatives and friends.
James is proceeded in death by his parents Erwin and Mildred Mielke; great grandson Franklin; and siblings Blanche, Edward, Gloria, Richard, and Julie.
Memorials may be directed to the family to assist with funeral costs.
There will be a Celebration of Life from 1:00-4:00 PM; Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at Jim and Cindy’s home.
