Janice Mae Kleven

Janice Kleven age 78 of Pine City passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina.Janice Paulson was born in Gonvick, MN, on May 29th 1939 to loving parents Algot and Selma Paulson. She was the eldest of 3 children; a sister to Karen and Rick.Janice graduated in 1957 from South High School in Minneapolis and married Richard Kleven on June 22 1957. They had 3 children Jeff, Julie, and Joleen.Janice loved spending time with her family.  Husband Dick, Jeff and Susan Kleven, Julie (deceased) and Brian Kasal, Joleen and Steve Kowalke, grandchildren and spouses Joe and Katie Kasal, Jamie Kasal, Tracy and Nic Jackson, Tara Kowalke, Heidi Kowalke, Jenny and Matt Borocz, and Tim Heinz and great-grandchildren Aubrie, Jalen, Jevon, Julian, Jefferson, and Carter. Janice was loved and will be missed by many. Through the tragedies and sorrow each of our families have suffered, one thing is for certain we are always there for each other and that is a rare and beautiful thing.She is survived by her husband Richard of Pine City, children Jeff (Susan) Kleven of Shoreview, Joleen (Steve) Kowalke of North Branch; grandchildren: Joe and Katie Kasal, Jamie Kasal, Tracy and Nic Jackson, Tara Kowalke, Heidi Kowalke, Jenny and Matt Borocz and Tim Heinz; great-grandchildren: Aubrie, Jalen, Jevon, Julian, Jefferson and Carter; sister Karen (Rodney) Torkelson of Lindstrom; brother Rick (Bonnie) Paulson of Shoreview; son-in-law Brian Kasal of St. Paul and many other relatives and friends.She is preceded in death by her daughter Julie Kasal, father Algot Paulson and mother Selma Nygaard. Reverend Dr. Vicki Vander Vegt will officiate funeral services for Janice: 11:00 AM Saturday, January 13, 2018 with a time of visitation at 9:30 AM all the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City.  A Spring 2018 interment is planned at the Friesland Cemetery, Friesland, Minnesota.
