Janice Carol Liescke

April 26, 1937 — October 30, 2021

Janice Liescke passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Golden Horizons in Sandstone at the age of 84. Janice Carol Quickstad was born April 26, 1937 to Arthur and Myrtle (Tollefson) Quickstad in Waseca, Minnesota. She lived in Seattle until settling in North Branch in 1985. Jan was a woman of many talents; a wife, mother, friend to all, an animal lover. She worked in many different fields throughout her life; a farmer, teacher’s aide, manager at Conners Fur Post (now the Snake River Fur Post) in Pine City. While working at the Fur Post she went by the name of “Lizette”. She was employed at Green Acres in North Branch as a nurses’ aide and a medication aide. She liked to do the unexpected, like getting her first tattoo of a sun bonnet girl holding a Norwegian Flag at the age of 70, followed by a tattoo of a Viking holding an axe; she told the tattoo artist she wanted more blood on the axe. Janice was an exceptional cook; enjoyed doing crafts and crochet blankets. She made quilts using her singer treadle sewing machine she purchased in the 50’s. She continued doing mending for Green Acres staff after she retired. Janice loved to “junk” shop, garage sale, and go out with a group of friends she called the “burger babes”. She was always ready to enjoy a Chinese buffet. Dementia robbed her of the last few years of her life. The family extends a very special thank you to the staff at Golden Horizons in Sandstone for taking such good care of her. We'd like to especially thank Eric, Jen and Michelle. Janice is survived by her children Laurie (David) Hammer, Steven Baldwin; grandchildren Cheryl Baldwin, Robert Baldwin, Christopher (Rachel) Hammer; great grandchildren Ashley Hammer and Cody Hammer; great great grandchildren Elena Hammer; sister Mary Rahman; nephew Danny Rahman; many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Janice is preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Myrtle Quickstad; husband Harold Liescke, sister Luvine; brothers Donny and Maynard. Funeral arrangements for Janice are pending at this time with: Funeral and Cremation Service of Pine City, Swanson Chapel www.FuneralAndCremationService.com
