Joan Ellen Peterson

Joan Ellen Hawkinson Peterson, age 72, of Andover and Rush City, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 26, 2025, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Born in Robbinsdale, MN, Joan was a graduate of Totino Grace High School and St. Cloud State Teachers College.  Joan taught the majority of her professional life at Champlin Elementary School as a media generalist and first/second grade. 

She was known for her warmth, generosity and deep love for her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents Jean and Roy Hawkinson, brother Bill Hawkinson and sister Sue (Mike) Thayer. Joan is survived by her loving husband, Paul Peterson; children Roy (Sarah), Ross (Allison), and Rachel Peterson; and her cherished grandchildren Jackson, Harper, Jacob, Sydney, and Parker.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
