Joseph Donald Mikyska, Sr. was born August 8, 1946 to Joseph and Loretta (Rys) Mikyska in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Joe's family moved to Beroun where he attended grade school. He later graduated from Pine City High School in 1964. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army basic training in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He finished his tour of duty in Germany
at the same base as his father was during WWII. He then received an Honorable Discharge.

Joe worked for the Pine County Highway Department as the sign man where he retired in 2000. He was an avid ball player in his younger years. He played many games of baseball (Hinckley Knights) and softball (Bob’s Standard). After his retirement, he spent lots of time with his 9 grandchildren and loved every moment. He didn’t miss many matches, games or concerts. He was a very big Pine City Dragon fan! If you didn’t find Joe at a sporting event, you could find him on the golf course or in the woods. He loved to golf and hunt! He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
