Joy Wanless passed away Friday, February 28, 2020 at Garden View Care Center in Watkins at the age of 89.
Joy Joan Miller was born November 6, 1930 to Reuben & Alice (Denson) Miller in Maple Lake, Minnesota.
In 1950, Joy married Ronald Wanless. They lived in Mora while he was in the military and later moved to Pine City in 1954. They had three children: Bonnie, Ron Jr., and Vicki. She worked at the Pine County Recorder’s Office and then Pine City Abstract until she retired.
Joy enjoyed bowling, golfing, her bridge clubs, playing 500, traveling and craft shows. Joy was a member of the Lions Club and a 60-year member of the VFW Auxiliary. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.
A special thank you to the staff at St. Croix Hospice and Hilltop Garden View Care Center for all the loving care given to Joy.
Joy is survived by her daughter Bonnie Wilcox of Sauk Rapids; grandchildren: Tim (Brenda) Wilcox of Sauk Rapids, Megan (Ryan) Ludwig of Richmond, Carissa Wilcox of Sauk Rapids, Ryan (Jen) Wanless of North Branch, Morgan (Joe) Lopez of Yorba Linda, CA, Hannah (Matt) Bales of Tustin, CA, McKenna (Jorden) Pomidoro of Reno, NV; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law Chris Pomidoro; sisters Sharon (Larry) Stingley, and Linda (David) Umeda; brothers Daryl (Linda) Miller, Dale (Diane) Miller and David Miller.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Ron; son Ron Jr.; daughter Vicki; grandson Jason; son-in-law Curt; sisters Doris, Ina, Sandra, Marlys and Darlene; brothers Harvey and Bill.
Rev. Dr. Vicki VanderVegt will officiate funeral services for Joy: 11 AM; Friday, March 6, 2020 at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City with a time of visitation and reviewal one hour prior. The interment will take place in Birchwood Cemetery in Pine City.
