Obituary

With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Koleman John Lind on Monday, July 20th at the age of 24. Koleman was born and raised in Pine City, MN and made a huge impact on everyone who knew him.

 Koleman attended Pine City High School and graduated in 2020. While there, he had a very successful career with the Dragon boy’s basketball team. He also ran on the Cross Country team. He continued his academic and athletic career at the University of Minnesota-Morris where he met his beautiful soul mate, Hailey. During his time there, he played two years on the Cougar men’s basketball team. He then went on to coach at Hancock High School for the JV boy’s basketball team during his last two years of school.

In May of 2024, he graduated from Morris with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management. Koleman and Hailey then ventured to Jamestown, ND with their beloved dog, Chance. For the next two years, Koleman served as a Grad Assistant for the University of Jamestown women’s basketball team while earning his Master’s Degree in Leadership. His love and passion for basketball and coaching grew during his time at UJ. He graduated with his Master’s in May of 2026. 

Along with playing and coaching basketball, Koleman enjoyed golfing, fishing, going to movies, watching sports, listening to music, dancing, and spending time with family and friends.

Koleman had a positive impact on countless lives. Each day he lived his life to the fullest. He was a kind soul with a goofy sense of humor that brought so much joy and laughter to all those around him. Many wonderful memories of Koleman will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.

Koleman is survived by his parents John & Kolette Lind of Pine City; sister Kloey Lind of Pine City; girlfriend Hailey Eagle Chasing of Jamestown, North Dakota; grandparents Tim & Eileen Kytonen of Center City; aunts & uncles: Kris (Amy) Kytonen of Maple Grove, Kameron Kytonen of Isanti, Frank “Bunny” (Arlene) Lind of White Bear Lake; Mona Lind; Fran Perreault of Rush City, Tom (Merrie) Thorson of Isanti, extended family James & Lourdes Eagle Chasing, Tyler Eagle Chasing, Lexus Eagle Chasing all of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; many cousins, other relatives and friends.

Koleman was preceded in death by his grandparents Wilmer & Irene Lind; aunts Linda Lind, Susan Thorson; uncles Brad Lind, Steve Thorson.

Father Thomas Galarneault will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial for Koleman: 11 AM; Friday, August 7, 2026 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pine City, visitation 4-8:00 PM Thursday (8/6) at Swanson Chapel and one hour prior to Mass at church. 

Funeral arrangements for Koleman Lind are entrusted to the Funeral and Cremation Service of Pine City, Swanson Chapel .
