Lael Anna Erickson

April 6, 1942 — March 23, 2023

Rush City

Lael Erickson of Rush City passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the age of 80.

Lael Anna Johnson was born April 6, 1942 to Henry and Emma (Schmidt) Johnson in North Branch, Minnesota. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church and stayed active there throughout her youth. Upon her graduation in 1960, Lael studied nursing at the Miller Nursing School in St. Paul, earning her LPN degree.

On June 15, 1963 Lael married Bronson Erickson. They were married for 59 years, settled on the farm in Rush City and resided there for most of their lives. Together they had four children: Thor, Thad, Seth and Gretchen.

In addition to being an active partner in the daily work of the farm, Lael also worked in a number of off-farm positions over the years: LPN at Green Acres Nursing Home, Secretary at Rush City Vet Clinic (where she spent most of her years) and Administrative Assistant at St. Croix River Education District of Rush City.

Lael’s passion was most seen in caring for her family and her strong faith. As most know, she loved baking, sewing and gardening; with every endless act being filled with love. Lael and Bronson raised their three children with grace, perseverance and patience. Her joy of family continued as each of the children married and multiplied it with each grandchild.

Lael was an endless source of light and love for all that knew her. While she will be missed, she leaves behind a legacy of compassion and dedication that will endure in all our hearts.

Lael is survived by her husband Bronson Erickson of Rush City; children Thad (Michelle) Erickson-Kevin, Aidan “Pann”, Caleb and Abigail “Kat” of St. Paul, Seth (Denise) Erickson-Haley and Megan of North Branch, Gretchen (Michael) Cornelius-Brayden and Addison of Rush City; brother Leland (Marie) Johnson; extended family and friends.

Lael was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Emma Johnson; infant son Thor; sister Shirley (David) Lantz; in-law's Marvin and Inga Erickson.

Pastor Nathan Baker-Trinity will officate at funeral services for Lael: 2 PM; Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rush City. A time for family and friends to gather is planned from 5-7 PM; Friday (4/14/23) at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
