Larry Lee Nelson was born November 24, 1958 to Douglas and Anita (Thomsen) Nelson in Sandstone, Minnesota. When his Dad introduced him to people he would say "This is number 4 son."
Larry attended elementary school in Bruno and high school in Askov. He was active in sports, playing football and baseball. He made All Conference in football his senior year. He was active in band and choir and was in the school musicals.
After high school he enlisted in the Minnesota Army National Guard for 35 years, where he obtained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2.
After some jobs that did not pan out for him, he found his life's calling when he started working with the developmentally disabled. After 44 years he retired. He also spent 15 years volunteering with the Pine County Ambulance squad as an EMT and carried on his parents' legacy of volunteering for the Bruno community. He was dedicated to his personal and work families.
He enjoyed doing things with his family, like hiking, camping, and just being together. He was a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will always be remembered with a Vikings baseball cap on.
