Laura LaVonne Chalupsky

Laura LaVonne (Grover) Chalupsky of Pine City passed away peacefully Friday, April 18, 2025, at the age of 88.

Laura was born March 4, 1937, to John and Anna (Miller) Grover in Pine City, Minnesota. She was the seventh of nine children. She graduated from Pine City High School in 1955 and moved to the Twin Cities area, where she lived and worked for several years, until marrying Lawrence Chalupsky in 1959, and moving to a home on Cross Lake in Pine City. Together they raised two girls: Paige, born in 1961 and Nichol, born in 1970.

Laura loved to spend her days taking care of her family and her home and enjoying coffee and sweets with her friends and neighbors. She became the housekeeper for St. Joseph Catholic Church in Beroun, maintaining the cleanliness of not only the church building but also the rectory. Laura took great pride in making sure the church was always at its best, and was always lending a hand at church events. She also took up other cleaning jobs around town, helping the older citizens of Pine City to keep their homes clean and tidy.

The family eventually moved from Cross Lake to Beroun, where she continued to enjoy taking care of her home and baking - she was well known for her delicious treats, especially her lemon bars.

Along with her cleaning services, she took a new job as a beverage server at the newly built Grand Casino in Hinckley. This turned out to be the perfect job for her, as the thing she loved most was visiting with and serving people. She loved working there and made many friends.

Laura loved spending time with family and friends whenever she could, and her lively spirit and loving heart will be greatly missed by all of them.

Laura is survived by daughter Nichol (Michael) Herzog of Auburn, Washington; grandson Dylan Herzog of New Haven, Connecticut; brother Denny Grover of Finlayson; sisters-in-law Lorraine Kozisek of Pine City, Karen Chalupsky of Orange, California; many nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Anna Grover; husband Lawrence Chalupsky; daughter Paige Chalupsky; sisters Geraldine “Geri” Nelson, Nancy Wolter; brothers John "Johnny” Grover, Donald “Billy” Grover, Raymond “Ray” Grover, James “Jimmy” Grover, Richard “Dicky” Grover; sister-in-law Louise Chalupsky; brother-in-law Louis "Butch" Chalupsky, Jr.

Funeral services for Laura: 11:00 AM; Saturday, June 14, 2025 at the Swanson Funeral of Pine City. There will be a time of visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery in Beroun.
