Lillian Olson of Rush City passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Lino Lakes Assisted Living where she has lived for the past three and a half years. She was 98 years old.
Lillian Maria Webber was born on April 17, 1919 to Charles P. and Emma J. (Polk) Webber in Pinetown Township, an area east of Pine City, Minnesota. She attended school at School District No. 28, Pleasant Prairie School in Pine County. On September 9, 1942, she married James Marvin Olson at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rush City. They enjoyed 65 years together as a married couple until James passed away in March of 2008. They spent a lot of time together playing cards, going to dances, raising their children, and visiting friends and relatives.
Lillian enjoyed several jobs in Rush City over the years. She worked for the Frank Hanson family at their home. She cleaned for Glynn and Leola Boda in their residence at the Grant House Hotel. She cleaned at the McGuire Law Office in Rush City. Lillian also did a lot of sewing and ironing for people. She enjoyed doing volunteer work at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rush City.
Lillian loved to cook and bake. Her cookies, cakes, and pies were wonderful and her home cooked meals were always special. She enjoyed being outdoors and liked to grow flowers and fresh vegetables in the garden. She did a lot of canning and her pickles were the best. She enjoyed entertaining friends and relatives in her home and the coffee pot was always on.
Lillian had a beautiful smile and a kind and gentle heart. She loved spending time with her family. Her loving husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the greatest joy of her life. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her.
Lillian is survived by her children Mary Breske of White Bear Lake, Marvin (Nancy) Olson of Austin, MN and Marilyn (Ray) Lancaster of Isanti; daughter-in-law Karen Olson of Albert Lea; grandchildren Becky (Dave) Altman, Jackie (Matt) Peterson, Erica Wood, Jenny Breske, Michael Breske, Eric Olson, Greg (Yvonne) Olson, Kyle (Nina) Olson, and Garrett (Sarah) Lancaster; 19 great-grandchildren: Alex, Grace, Isabella, Nicholas, Theresa, Mary Jo, Rachel, James, Ryan, Lily, Liam, Sidney, Reese, Emma, Kora, Chloe, Jadyn, Audrey, and Jonah; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lillian is preceded in death by her husband James Olson; son Michael Olson; parents Charles P. and Emma Webber; brother Charles F. Webber and sister-in-law Rita Webber; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Donald (Lorraine) Olson, Llewellyn (Lorraine) Olson, Loraine (Harold) Peterson, Genevieve (Otto) Wickstrom; two nephews Peter Webber and Jerome Webber; and niece Dorothy Minners.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the entire staff at Lino Lakes Assisted Living and Bluestone Physician Services and to the Allina Health Hospice team for providing care and support to Lillian and her family.
Father Shane Wasinger will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial for Lillian: 11:00 AM; Thursday (2/8/18) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rush City. A time of visitation and reviewal is planned for Wednesday (2/7/18) from 5-8 PM at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. The interment will take place at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Rush City.
