Lonnie Edward Kruse

Lonnie Edward Kruse, 83, passed away on May 7, 2026, in Port Charlotte, Florida. Lonnie was born on April 8, 1943 in Rush City, MN to the late Carl and Ruth Rodbum Kruse. He was the middle of three boys.

Lonnie grew up in Rush City for his entire life. He always drove the coolest cars in town and got into many shenanigans. He graduated from Rush City High School in 1961. Lonnie married the love of his life, Sue Smuder, in 1986. They just celebrated 40 years of marriage on May 3rd. They lived in Rush City until they found their dream home in Florida in 2015. Lonnie worked for Plastech Corporation for 36 years and retired as material manager in 2005.

Lonnie enjoyed bird hunting, deer hunting, splitting wood, and fishing. Lonnie, Sue, and family enjoyed many trips to Northome. They enjoyed many fishing trips to Island Lake and Moose Lake and surrounding lakes. In Florida they had to adapt to a different way of fishing. Lonnie didn’t like the birds stealing the shrimp off his line. They enjoyed hosting many summer tubing parties. Lonnie was known to sneak up on you on the river and flip you over in your tube. They also enjoyed many four wheeling and snowmobiling trips. Lonnie enjoyed his family and told many stories. “Picture this” was usually a good start to his stories.

Lonnie is survived by his loving wife, Sue, of Port Charlotte, FL; daughter, Laura (Frantz) Moise of New River, AZ; son, Randy (Cindy) Kruse of Hastings; daughter, Katy (Andy) Beck of Ogilvie; grandchildren, Tyler, Shelby, Dustin, Ronnie, Levi and Ali; many great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Lonnie was preceded in death by his brothers Russell and Leon.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at the Beck residence located at 1451 Garden Street in Ogilvie.
