Margaret Johnson passed away peacefully at Ecumen in North Branch on Friday, November 1, 2019 at the age of 92 years, 5 months, 16 days.

Margaret Wilhelmina (Heinrich) Johnson was born in Rushseba Township on May 15, 1927 to Carl Otto and Emma (Frederick) Heinrich. She was baptized June 25, 1933 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rush City. She was confirmed on June 8, 1941 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rush City. She attended Peers School and graduated from Rush City High School on May 29, 1945. She resided in Rushseba Township until the last 2 ½ years of her life.

Margaret worked as a clerk and bookkeeper at the Co-Op Store Inc. in Rush City from 1945 until December, 1951. On April 1, 1951 Margaret married Wendell Johnson. To this union five children were born: Paul, Susan, Loretta, Nancy and Peter.

They farmed in the Brickyard area for five years then moved north of Rush City on the Government Road where they farmed until they retired in 1983. They lived on the farm until 1989 when they moved to a new home on five acres just north of Rush City. In 2011, Margaret moved to Countryside Apartments in Rush City. She lived there for six years then moved to assisted living at Ecumen in North Branch in 2017.

Margaret was an active member of WELCA, a Sunday School teacher for 10 years, a member of the Brickyard Women’s Club, a Charter member of Piecemakers Quilt Guild, a 4-H leader for 15 years, a volunteer at the Nutrition Center in Rush City, a Fire Warden for 30 years, a quilt maker at church and a member of the North Chapter Chisago County Historical Society.

Margaret is survived by her children Paul (Karen) Johnson of Knoxville, Tennessee, Susan (Randy) Mold of Rush City, Loretta (Randy) Stacy of Princeton, Nancy (Mark) Moulton of Rush City, Peter (Peggy) Johnson of Rush City; grandchildren Kevin Johnson, David (Suzanne) Johnson, Eric (Nicole) Mold, Angela (Derek) Kuhlman, Jeffrey (Toni Trapp) Mold, Alexander (Hannah) Stacy, Sarah Stacy, Andrew (Randi) Moulton, Luke (Whitney) Moulton, Benjamin Moulton, Elise (Chris) Schultz, Britta (Kevin) Wey, Kayla (Matthew) Anderson, Zachariah Johnson, Isaac Johnson; 19 great-grandchildren; brother Carl (Beverley) Heinrich of Rush City; cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wendell; brother James.

Pastor Nathan Baker-Trinity will officiate at funeral services for Margaret: 11 AM; Friday, November 15, 2019 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City. A time of visitation and reviewal is planned from 5-7 PM Thursday (11/14) at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City and also one hour prior to the service at the church. The interment will take place at First Lutheran Cemetery in Rush City.

Memorials may be directed to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City or the North Chisago County Historical Society.
