Marilyn J. Arnold, age 93, of Pine City, MN, passed away peacefully into the hands of our Lord on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Mary Jane Brown Nursing Home in Luverne, MN.
Marilyn was born on June 29, 1932, in St. Paul, MN, to Kathryn and Edward Dickhausen. She was the oldest of four children.
She grew up helping her father on the family farm in Holdingford, MN. A long-standing family joke was that when Marilyn married, her father would be losing his best “farmhand.” She graduated from Holdingford High School. It was there that she met the love of her life, Glenn. Marilyn and Glenn were united in marriage on August 16, 1952. They were blessed with two children, Sandra and Lee, who became the second great loves of her life.
Marilyn enjoyed being a devoted at-home mother and wife until the spring of 1967, when she began her career at St. Paul Ramsey Hospital. She took great pride in her work and was known to light up when asked about her job, joyfully saying she did “everything but pass out meds.”
Marilyn was active in Eastern Star, the Lions Club, and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Pine City, MN. Within the community, she was famous for her huge pecan caramel rolls, happily baking them at all hours so she could bring them to church events, including the annual fundraiser. She loved family gatherings - especially holidays, where she always prepared more than enough food. No one ever left her home hungry. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, deer hunting, gardening, helping write the church newsletter, doing outdoor work, and sitting on her deck soaking in the sunshine.
Marilyn moved to Sioux Falls, SD, in July 2022, where she lived at Washington Crossing Retirement Home and later Stoney Brook Assisted Living, before moving to Mary Jane Brown Nursing Home in Luverne, MN, in October 2025. She will forever be remembered as the “red hat lady,” as she was rarely seen without her favorite red hat.
Grateful for having shared her life are her two children, Sandra (Edwin) Prudhon of White Bear Lake, MN, and Lee (Julie) Arnold of Sioux Falls, SD; her four grandchildren, Samantha (John) of White Bear Lake, MN, Christopher Arnold of Manhattan, New York City, Michael (Skyler) Prudhon of White Bear Lake, MN, and David Arnold of Ft. Collins, CO; and her five great-grandchildren.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Kathryn Dickhausen; her husband, Glenn Arnold; her siblings Joyce Skudlarek, Robert Dickhausen, and Michael Dickhausen; and her daughter, Sandra Prudhon.
She will be forever remembered for her selflessness, her unwavering love, and her willingness to put others before herself. She was the best mother, wife, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be deeply and forever missed.
Funeral services for Marilyn will be at 11 AM on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 with a time of visitation one hour prior to the funeral service all at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Pine City. The interment will take place in Birchwood Cemetery, Pine City.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to: Funeral and Cremation Service of Pine City, Swanson Chapel.
