Marjorie June "Marge" (Gilbertson) Johnson, age 85, passed away peacefully on August 2nd , 2026, at Timber Pines in Pine City, MN leaving behind a legacy of faith, creativity, and love for her family.
Born on February 11, 1941, in Ellsworth, Wisconsin to Freddie and Clara (Haberstich) Gilbertson, Marge spent most of her life in Pine City, Minnesota. She grew up in the Ellsworth-River Falls Wisconsin area. She also lived in Washington State.
She was a woman of many talents. A true master gardener, Marge, had a remarkable green thumb, and her artistic spirit shone through her beautiful paintings, skilled sewing, and wonderful baking.
Above all else, Marge loved God and her family. She was a faithful member of the Evangelical Free Church and carried herself with a positive outlook on life, a great sense of humor, and a warm heart that drew people to her. In her later years, she cherished the friendships she made at Timber Pines with staff and residents.
She is survived by her children: Scot Ashcroft (Ginelle) of Alexandria, Dawn Ashcroft of Pine City, and Christine Kroeze (Chuck) of South St. Paul; her grandchildren: Ruby, Walton, Jeff, Jeremy, Amber, Chad, and Thaddaeus; and nine great-grandchildren, all of whom brought joy to her life.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Freddie and Clara Gilbertson; her husbands, David Johnson; Walton Kroeze, and Kenneth Ashcroft; and her siblings, Harlan, Donnie, Roger, and Marlys.
There will be a graveside service for Marge at Hilltop Cemetery of Pine City at 11 AM; Saturday, August 8, 2026. Family and Friends will gather at the graveside 15 minutes prior to the service.
Following the internment there will be a Celebration of Life for Marge at Timber Pines from 12pm-1pm in the Life Enrichment Center Room on the second floor of Timber Pines at 650 Northridge Dr. NW in Pine City, MN. She was loved. She will be missed.
