Mary Ann Lucille Wurm

Mary Ann Wurm formerly of Pine City passed away October 8, 2018 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport, North Carolina at the age of 81.

Mary Ann Lucile (Janssen) Wurm was born September 9, 1937, in rural (Chegwatana Township) Pine City, Minnesota to parents Eilert and Lucille Janssen.  After graduating from Pine City High School she worked part-time at WCMP radio before she married John T. Wurm; their union resulted in six children.

Mary Ann earned a degree from the University of Minnesota in St. Paul. Mary Ann worked as a licensing consultant for the state of Minnesota and later for the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office as a dispatcher. Mary Ann was active in her church, involved in her community, and loved to cross stitch and crochet.  

In her later years, she moved to North Carolina to be closer to her daughters. 

Mary Ann is survived by her children: Helen Hutchins of Oklahoma, Chris Wurm of Pine City, Elizabeth Wurm of North Carolina, Anne Groe of North Carolina, Stephanie Von Aumen of Missouri, Greg (Lisa) Wurm of St. Paul; 3 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; siblings:  Paul Janssen of Pine City, Phyllis (Bruce) Falk of Grasston, Nancy (Skip) Stevens of Rock Creek, Sandra (Marlen) Holmberg of Rush City, Sally (Vernon) Valvoda of Pine City; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents Eilert and Lucille Janssen, son Al Wurm and sister-in-law Kathy Janssen.

Fr. Joe Bambenek will celebrate a Memorial Mass for Mary Ann: 10:30 AM; Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Pine City.  A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the Mass; in the St. Anthony Commons area of the church. The interment will take place in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
