Myron "Mike" Rudolph Behrendt

Myron "Mike" Behrendt of Rush City passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Rosewood Assisted Living in Cambridge at the age of 81.

Myron Rudolph Behrendt was born on July 2, 1944 to Berneth "Beanie" and LuVerne (Milliren) Behrendt in Rush City, Minnesota.

Mike grew up west of Rush City on the family farm. He enjoyed his high school days and had many achievements. Some being football captain, basketball captain, track, president of FFA, National Honor Society. He attended the University of Minnesota for awhile.

Mike married the love of his life, Barbara Larson in 1963. They lived and raised their sons Kelly and Cary next to the family farm. They then moved to Cambridge in 2004.

Mike's first job was a lineman for East Central Electric, Burlington Railroad, Indianhead Trucking then Mike returned to farming until 1986. He then became a custodian for the Rush City School District until his retirement. After retiring, Mike worked for the Cambridge Library.

Mike and Barb enjoyed many trips from Yellowstone to Disney World, to Boston, Italy, Hawaii, Aruba, Ireland, England and many other states.

Mike enjoyed his family and visited as much as possible. Many memories are shared.

Mike is survived by his wife Barb Behrendt of Cambridge; sons Kelly (Patti) Behrendt of Pepperell, Massachusetts, Cary (Char) Behrendt of Lester Prairie; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; in-laws Deb (Dale) Fore of Pine City, Dan (Val) Larson of Rush City, Craig (Jenny) Larson of Rush City; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gordy Behrendt.

A gathering of family and friends will be on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 from 4-7 PM at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City.
