Raymond "Bud" Otto Doenz

Bud Doenz of Pine City passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Signe + Olivia's in Pine City at the age of 79, just a month and 18 days before his 80th birthday.

Raymond "Bud" Otto Doenz was born November 25, 1943 to John and Leona (Patzoldt) Doenz, in Rock Creek, Minnesota. He was one of ten children.

Bud enjoyed all things hunting and he was an excellent trapper; he had many fox pelts to show for his efforts. His greatest love was farming; the dairy cows, working in the fields from early in the morning to late at night. Many times, during the height of the field work he would work late into the night, sometimes falling asleep in his Allis-Chalmers tractor, only to wake up and start working again. Over the years he had many different canine friends working with him on the farm, Bud enjoyed the company and loyalty his dogs provided. Bud especially enjoyed being a godparent to a couple of his siblings children. He was a kind, honest, caring, very hardworking man that was always there for friends and family in need.

On October 11, 1986 Raymond married Kathleen Carlson; family and friends enjoyed a beautiful reception at the Beroun American Legion.  

Bud is survived by his loving wife just 5 days shy of celebrating their 37th anniversary, Kathy Doenz of Pine City; siblings Dorothy McKenzie of Braham, John "Jack" (Marlene) Doenz of Pine City, Elmer (Anna) Doenz of Pine City, Ernie Doenz of Brook Park, Jean Slade of Brook Park, Janet (Larry) Rogers of Michigan; many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Leona Doenz; siblings Leona (Lee) Christenson, Marie (Bob) Adrian, Lorraine (Dennis) Schultz; brothers-in-law Jim Slade, Leo McKenzie.

Funeral services for Bud: 11 AM; Thursday, October 26, 2023 with a time for family and friends to gather planned from 5-8 PM Wednesday (10/25) and also one hour prior to the service all at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City.
