Robert "Bob" Charles Diedrich

September 13, 1932 — May 16, 2019

Robert "Bob" Diedrich of Rush City left this earthly life on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the age of 86.

Robert Charles Diedrich was born September 13, 1932 to Robert E. and Lucille (Gibbis) Diedrich in West Saint Paul, Minnesota.  He was raised there and at the Diedrich family cabin on West Rush Lake.  He spent countless hours fishing, hunting and trapping on and around Rush Lake.

Bob proudly served in the United States Army and also did a tour of duty in Korea where his cooking skills landed him a job as a cook and he hunted in his spare time.

Bob liked to roller skate at Moulton's roller rink in Rush City.  It was there that he met Betty Fick.  They dated and were married on September 15, 1955.  Bob and Betty welcomed their children Dan in 1957, Amy in 1963 and Rob in 1966.  In 1969, the family moved from South St. Paul to West Rush Lake.  Bob started Diedrich's Bait; a family run business that everyone helped out with.  Bob and Betty ran the business until 2012 when they retired.  In 2017 they moved to Rush City.

Bob enjoyed many successful hunting and fishing trips to Montana.  He also enjoyed making knifes for himself and others.  Bob was a perfectionist and it showed in the knives he made and the woodworking he did.  He built much of the equipment used in the bait business; from traps to tanks for the trucks.

Bob is survived by his daughter Amy (Michael) Ramstad of Pine City; son Rob (Laura) Diedrich of Rush City; grandchildren: Korey Siltman of Pine City, Devin Diedrich of Edina, Hunter Diedrich of Braham, Ariel (Joe) Khran of St. Louis Park, Allen Ramstad of Duluth, Brock, Kayla and Lukas Diedrich of Rush City.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert E. and Lucille Diedrich; wife Betty Diedrich; son Daniel Diedrich; and infant brother Joe Diedrich.

A gathering of family and friends is planned for Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 4-8 PM at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City.  The family invites everyone to wear camo - Bob's favorite.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Funeral and Cremation Service of Rush City ~ Olson Chapel. www.FuneralAndCremationService.com
