Sandra “Sandie” Bonk of Rock Creek passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at her home at the age of 77.
Sandie was born on August 18, 1947 to Axel and Sylvia (Carlson) Anderson in Rush City, Minnesota. She attended Rock Creek School through sixth grade, then went to Pine City School through ninth grade. After moving to Rush City, Sandie graduated from Rush City High School while working at the Coffee Cup Cafe. After graduation, she moved to Pine City and went to work at the Pine Cafe. This is where she met Dennis while he was attending Pine Technical College.
After moving back to Rush City, Sandie went to work at the nursing home as an aid. Later she became a medical secretary. Sandie married Dennis while he was in the United States Navy, on November 16, 1968 at the Covenant Church in Rush City. She and Dennis bought a home in Rock Creek and she went to work for General Fabrication in Pine City and worked there until it closed.
Sandie then went to work at Tower Hill in Grantsburg, Wisconsin for several years; Radio Shack in Pine City for awhile, then Kinger's Grocery in Rush City where she was a clerk. She enjoyed the comradery with many of the customers. When the store closed, she retired.
She loved planting, flower gardening, and decorating for the holidays. She loved sports, the Vikings, Gophers, and Twins. (GO VIKINGS!) She loved professional wrestling and high school tournaments. Sandie also loved garage sales - both having them and going to them. She loved playing cards and traveling to different places throughout the country.
Sandie is survived by her husband Dennis Bonk of Rock Creek; siblings Sharon Hampey of Dallas, Texas, Larry Anderson of Rock Creek, Gerri (Phil) Friday of Anoka, Kathy (Don) Bonneville of Grantsburg, Wisconsin; brother-in-law Daryl (Margie) Bonk of Danbury, Wisconsin; many nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Axel and Sylvia Anderson; brothers Roger (Betty) Anderson, Gene (Helen) Anderson; baby sister Betty Jane Anderson; brother-in-law John Hampey; sisters-in-law Sharon Anderson, Shirley Lindberg; nephews Tim Anderson, Sam Anderson; niece Lisa Anderson.
Pastor Mark Lillo will officiate at services for Sandie: 11:00 AM; Friday, January 3, 2025 at Olson Funeral Chapel of Rush City. A time of visitation is planned for one hour prior to the service at the Olson Chapel. The interment will take place at West Rock Cemetery, Rock Creek.
