Sandra Mary “Sandy” (Vacinek) Williamson passed away on April 5th, 2026, at the age of 81, surrounded by her loving family.
Sandy was born on June 15, 1944, in Pine City, Minnesota, alongside her twin sister, Sharon. Their birth was especially memorable as they were one of two sets of twins born in Pine City on the same day.
She was the daughter of Adolph and Margaret (Livingston) Vacinek and grew up on a small dairy farm east of Pine City with her siblings Sharon, Judy, Marjorie Rose, and Dennis. During her high school years, Sandy and her twin sister shared a love of music. Along with friends, they performed at school events, including a memorable homecoming performance of “Autumn Leaves.” Known as the “daredevil” of the pair, Sandy often kept life exciting, while Sharon was never far behind, helping cover for her in ways only twins could.
After graduating high school, Sandy moved to the Twin Cities, where she worked in data processing at a bank as a key punch operator. Outside of work, her love of music continued. She played guitar and sang with her sister and friends at local establishments, including the Hauf Brau near Blaine. Sandy was especially known for her unique and joyful talent for yodeling.
Eventually, Sandy returned to Pine City, where she raised her son, Daniel (Dan) Hancock, and later met the love of her life, Darrell Williamson. The two met in August 1976 and were married on September 3, 1977. With that union came Darrell’s three children—Rodney, Julie, and Kathy—whom Sandy welcomed with open arms, creating a warm and loving home from the very beginning.
Sandy worked for many years in Pine City as a bookkeeper for Cliff Erhart at General Trading Auto Parts and later Hoffmans Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts. She later joined Dennis Kirk in sales, where she worked until her retirement.
Sandy had a gift for bringing people together, especially through food. She loved preparing large meals and was always ready to try a new dessert recipe—successfully or not (family members will fondly remember the peanut butter bundt cake). She cherished time spent hunting, fishing, and camping with family, where she was often at the center of it all, cooking for a crowd and filling the air with laughter.
She was truly the life of every gathering, known for her vibrant spirit and contagious laugh. When Sandy was in the room, everyone knew it. Her presence brought warmth, joy, and connection to those around her.
Sandy also loved traveling with her husband, Darrell. Together they explored the world, visiting destinations such as the Bahamas, Mexico, Hawaii, New Zealand, and Australia, creating cherished memories along the way.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years Darrell Williamson; son Dan Hancock; stepchildren Rodney (Rhonda) Williamson, Julie (Melissa) Ingvaldson, and Kathy (Jeff) Yunker; siblings Sharon Long, Judy (Craig) Skalicky, Dennis (Angie) Vacinek; sister-in-law Ardie (Doug) Kennedy as well as many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Adolph and Margaret Vacinek; infant sister Jeanette Anne; sister Marjorie Rose Cameron; brother-in-law Ken Long; infant granddaughter Brittni Hancock; nephew Zachary Vacinek, in-laws Leonard and Arlene Williamson; and sisters-in-law Alice Petersen and Jonalyne (Bob) Escen.
Sandy’s love, laughter, and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
