Sharon died Sunday, April 19, 2026 surrounded by family at Northern Pines Assisted Living in Pine City.
She was born August 26, 1941 in St. Peter, Minnesota to Edgar and Elizabeth (Emge) Carpenter. As a child, she attended several school districts and graduated from Braham High School in 1960. Following high school she worked for Schmitt Music in Minneapolis. She met the love of her life at Happy’s Dance Hall in Hinckley and on September 22, 1962 she married Joseph Fix in Hinckley.
Together they began their life two miles west of Hinckley, later moved to Rush City where they rented a farm for three years. In 1968 they purchased 80 acres east of Pine City where together they farmed and raised their six children. Sharon and Joe farmed until their retirement in 1999. Following her retirement she began working at Nelsons Country Market in Pine City where she worked in the deli for ten years. As Joe’s health failed, she retired from there to take care of the love of her life. Sharon remained on the farm after Joe’s death and resided there until January 2026.
Sharon was a devout member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women, and was dedicated to the St. Croix Homemakers. She was known for her home made wedding cakes, cake decorating, baking and sewing. Each week she made 13 loaves of homemade bread and two large pans of homemade caramel rolls. In their earlier years she and Joe were known to “kick up their heels” on Saturday nights at the Pine Camp Ballroom.
Survivors include her children: Charlene (Dave) Goodman of Glenwood City, WI, Cheryl (Mark) Knudson of Brook Park, Dennis Fix, Harold (Roxy) Fix and Charles (Mary Ann) Fix all of Pine City; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; brother, Dennis (Judy) Carpenter of Cambridge; sister, Teresa Morgan of Cheyenne, Wyo., son-in-law, Robert Noyes of Pine City; brother-in-law, Dennis Kunzer of the Twin Cities; several nieces, nephews and friends survive.
